The Foldable Lantern
The Old Town lantern is a bamboo frame that collapses flat, which is the only reason so many of them leave the country. Sixteen ribs are soaked, bent and tied by hand before the silk goes on, and a class runs about an hour. The workshops that teach it are the ones supplying the shops on Nguyen Thai Hoc, so the frames come out better than anything sold off a market stall.

Hoi An Memories
On an island in the Thu Bon, a cast of roughly five hundred plays four centuries of the town across an open-air stage the size of a field. What a day out in Hoi An actually costs.
Three bands, cheapest first. The bottom one costs less than a bowl of noodles at the airport, and it holds one of the best things in town.
